Doing your PhD can feel so much better than this.
You dreamt of doing a PhD but now it's just not worked out how you thought it would. Instead you're overwhelmed, procrastinating, and wondering if you are capable of doing this after all.Â
It doesn't have to be like this. The PhD Life Coach membership supports people like you to achieve their academic goals and enjoy the process.
"Vikki's guidance was not just practical advice; it was a lifeline"
(International PhD student in Nursing)

Let me guess how PhD life is for you...
- you make plans that FEEL realistic, but when it comes to doing the work, you get overwhelmed and procrastinate
- you feel like everyone else seems to know what they're doing and you're worried they'll figure out you're winging it
- you intend to make progress, and then realise at the end of the day that you haven't done any of the things you intended to do
- your plans are not on schedule but somehow you're too embarrassed to tell your supervisor and get the help you need.
Â
Introducing The PhD Life Coach membership!Â
In the membership, we help you understand your own challenges and develop strategies that feel good and get stuff done. This isn't just about productivity - it's about learning how to support yourself to have the life you want.
You’ll be surrounded by other PhD students, from all over the world, experiencing the same difficulties as you, and together with your expert coach Dr. Vikki Wright, you support each other to achieve your goals.
Who is it for?Â
Â
The PhD Life Coach membership is for anyone who:
- worries they're not good enough and don't deserve to be here;
- takes on too much, gets overwhelmed, and procrastinates;
- feels behind, even when you're objectively doing ok;
- holds themselves to unrealistic standards and beats themselves up when they don't reach them.
You will feel more empowered and intentional, with a ready-made support system to help you enjoy your PhD Life.
"After each session, I feel more capable to take the next step in getting work done on my PhD and I feel supported in doing it. I'm not sure that I would still be enrolled without it."

You've probably tried workshops or even coaching before,
but nothing's really helped you the way you hoped.
It's not your fault - usually you get access to a bunch of one-off workshops, which can be really useful but don't really lead to long-term changes in attitude and behaviour. They usually focus on what you "should" do, without really addressing all the very legitimate reasons that stop us acting the way we intend.Â
This is how the PhD Life Coach is different...
Â
You learn to "coach" yourself, instead of just being given "tips".Â
This means you can support yourself through any challenge in a way that acknowledges that your true self and feels sustainable and effective.
Â
You get long-term support, so it's there when you need it most.
I provide consistent, meaningful support when you need it, in a format that works for you, so that you can see real change in your life.
Â
You can discuss your challenges with someone who "gets it".
I completed my PhD quickly ANDÂ supervised several successful students - IÂ know academia and its unique weirdness and pressures!
Â
You get a ready-made community of people just like you
Your experiences are normal, other people feel the same way, and it's so much easier to learn within a compassionate community like ours.
Hi, I'm Dr Vikki Wright
Â
I am an award winning professor with 20 years experience of postgraduate training and supervision. At the same time, I really struggled with procrastination and overwhelm.Â
Receiving coaching changed everything for me. I learned to stop beating myself up and enjoy the work I was doing. Now I support PhD students and academics to do the same.Â
When I’m not coaching, I'm usually snuggling my labrador and getting excited about new hobbies (currently handstand, collage, and trying to find a paddleboard polo club).
Â
My approach
I know how hard academia can be. I'm not going to tell you to toughen up and be more independent. We're going to identify the real issues that are making your your PhD feel difficult. We'll then come up with a plan that YOU are in control of to make everything feel better.Â
I’ll be there to support you but I also want to you to be able to look after yourself without me! I teach you how to understand your mind and coach yourself to achieve your goals.
I also want you to thrive, not just to cope with adversity. This isn't about being more "resilient" so that you just cope with more and more difficult times. I help you feel empowered to support yourself and change your experience.

"I wanted a coach who had qualified with a PhD and gone through the process, someone who had experience in academia supervising PhD students, and someone who had been a professor."

What you will get in the membership

Three 50min group coaching sessions per weekÂ
Online group coaching (10 weeks/quarter) – you can watch others get coached and volunteer for one-to-one coaching yourself. (You don't need to come to all of them - they're then when you need them!)

A quarterly "kick-off" and a review workshop
We will have a two hour workshop at the start of the quarter to set our goals and intentions, and then two review workshops to track our progress and celebrate our achievements

A live training course focused on a specific topic
This course, made up of ten 1hr live workshops, changes each quarter and helps you build the skills you need to really change your PhD experience. Due to popular demand, these will be RECORDED!

Asynchronous coaching and access to our exclusive Slack communityÂ
If you can't make the live sessions, never fear! You can submit a question and I will publish an audio response with advice and coaching tips. You'll have access to all the (anonymised) questions and answers in a private podcast. In Slack you can also chat with and support other PhD students from all over the world.

The EXPANDED “Be your own best boss” online course
This self-paced resource helps you figure out how you supervise yourself at the moment, how that’s affecting your progress, and how to become the best possible supervisor for yourself in the future.

Coworking sessions
Twice a month we'll have two hour coworking sessions where you can work on your self-paced courses in a supportive environment. My members also organise other informal coworking sessions throughout the quarter.
I did (almost all of) the Be Your Own Best Boss course. I find I no longer have panic moments where I don't know what to do.Â
Before joining the membership, I was stressed, overwhelmed and somewhat regretting starting my PhD. Now that I have my organisation system in place, I'm enjoying it again.Â

Quarter 4
Feel less of an imposter
and take control of your PhD Life
(October 27th 2025 to January 30th 2026)
The ten week course in this quarter will focus on understanding what imposter syndrome is, where it comes from, and how we can feel like we belong in academia. We'll analyse our current lives compassionately, learn to identify our strengths, values and priorities, consider the importance of life outside the PhD, and start to create PhD lives that feel good and work for us.Â
Investment
The PhD Life Coach membership costs ÂŁ149 for three months (a "quarter")Â
There is no minimum contract and you can cancel at any time.Â
